Open on Occluded Conditions involves compression artifacts from spectral processors, and convolution effects including spatial and material simulations (a construction site, a game console), a computer voice, and digital noise.

Further, occlusion techniques on those compositions were employed, to turn attention away from their fullness, and instead toward the superficial aspects of consumer devices and their imagined decay.

re: McLuhan’s hot and cool media, these works evoke incineration by means of fake fire, and conditioning by means of fake air, representing cool interactions (and interferences) with digital media, but rendered hot.

Its visual counterpart Open On Occluding Devices explores these themes on screen.
